Economic growth is unequally distributed not just between, but also within cities. This might reflect that residents and firms are spatially segregated based on various characteristics. However, it could also be that certain neighborhood characteristics within cities influence residents’ productivity, employment, health, crime and hence maintain inequality. The focus of the workshop is to discuss research on how and to what extent exposure to spatial disparities influences residents’ behavior.
